Department of Pathology

The Department of Pathology teaches the subject of pathology, which means studying the structural and functional changes in tissues and living cells because of disease, this provides a scientific explanation of what the patient may feel symptoms and what the doctor sees signs of the disease.

Pathology is therefore the link between basic medical sciences and clinical sciences. It is also the scientific basis on which all other medical sciences are based. The rapid development of methods and diagnostics that went beyond the visual form of the tissue to dive into microscopic components of the cells gave the learners a greater chance to learn pathogenesis of various diseases including cancerous tumors. The Department also teaches forensic medicine, which deals with the examination and diagnosis of criminal cases to find out their causes from the medical point of view. The MD program in pathology is one of the most important achievements of the department, which is the artery that feeds the department with distinguished cadres that extend their benefits to other faculties in Sudan and outside the Sudan
