المقدمة


During his professional life a medical practitioner may be called upon to assist the police or courts of justice to investigate crime and give evidence in both civil and criminal cases where hiss special training and professional skills may be of paramount importance in court deliberations and where his expertise will be most needed. This is especially true in the Sudan where the medical profession has ben working in close cooperation with the police and the legal profession since its inception. The medical officer will be asked in more ways than one to examine, investigate report and give evidence in a variety of. accidental and criminal cases ranging from the most petty late Thursday night brow with minor injuries to the most obscure and complicated murder case
In this course the student will familiarise and acquaint himself with the most common medico-legal problems that he will meet during his professional career and the available means to investigate and how to report on them, and to the technical aspects of court procedure as far as could be required from a medical expert witness

الأهداف


1. General Objectives:

1.1 The student acquire the necessary knowledge of the basics of forensic science and technical legitimacy.
1.2 Provide the student with the ability to take positions of legitimate medical practice.
1.3 Acquisition of skills practice and development of forensic Queen of doubt and suspicion in many of the things that brought to the doctor during the exercise of his work.
1.4 Acquire the ability to deal with the correct directory structure or the medical profession and the
coordinates 1.5 Strengthen the knowledge of ethics and morals to practice medicine and the laws that govern the relationship between the doctor and the patient and his colleagues

2. Specific Objectives:

By the end of course the students should be able to:
2.1. Examine a dead body, elicit signs of death and give a proper certification of death
2.2. Describe and explain the post-mortem changes in the body
2.3. Describe the scene of death in suspicious circumstances, collect that can help solve the cause of death
2.4. Describe methods of identification of persons (dead usually)
2.5. Describe the various types of injuries:
types of wounds : R T A, gun shot wounds, thermal and electrical injuries, and deduce their relevant significance in forensic
2.6. Reasonably compare and contrast cases of homicide and suicide and the salient differences between them
2.7. Describe features s of asphyxia and the P.M. findings with special reference of suffocation, strangulation drowning sand carbon monocide poisoning
2.8. Investigate and examine cases of sexual offences i.e.e rape, sodomy and reach reasonable conclusions that can assist the courts
2.9. Investigate cases of infanticide and differentiate between P.M.l findings in post natal death and in the still-born infant
2.10. Investigate cases of criminal abortion, the methods used in procuring illegal abortions and the complications that can arise from performing such abortions
2.11. Investigate paternity and maternity disputes and know the limitations of the various methods of investigation used
2.12. Describe performing a P.M. and exhumation and the investigations and information needed in the various circumstances when these two procedure are undertaken
2.13. Describe the common poisonous substances that may cause death or infirmity, whether of plant origin or chemicals especially pesticides and weed killers and particularly those used in plant protection in Gezira. Describe their chemical composition action and their effects on the living organism especially humans
2.14. Understand court procedures and the role of the medical witness its prologues, if any, and its requirements
2.15. Write brief notes on the most important legal aspects of psychiatric medicine
